Joe Schueller is part of Procter & Gamble's Global Business Services Innovation organization. Joe graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Computer Science Engineering in 1995. Over the last 14 years at P&G, Joe has been at the forefront of electronic collaboration at one of the world's largest consumer goods companies. With a variety of IT and business experiences, Joe has emerged in the last 3 years as a leading expert in the application of social and collaborative computing in the enterprise environment.

Role purpose
The SBI Knowledge Manager will be responsible for creating a knowledge sharing environment and driving the use of collaborative social media tools to enable broader capture and sharing and promote innovation. The Knowledge Manager closely collaborates with project teams to define and implement knowledge sharing processes and technologies into the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for systems, approaches and processes which capture the intellectual capital of the organization and seeking out continuous improvement opportunities. This individual will work in a team-oriented and collaborative environment and heavily participate in up-front planning and implementation of KM projects, application roll-out, programs and user training.
Accountabilities
•Collaboratively drive SBI’s Knowledge Management (KM) strategy to embed knowledge sharing into Syngenta’s ways of working.
•Act as a change agent to drive cultural change and engage stakeholders in process improvement.
•Evaluate Web 2.0, Social Networking and other new Knowledge Management and Collaboration methodologies to suggest those with potential business benefit.
•Leverage social networking technologies and informal networks to share new ideas and best practices which can benefit the organization.
•Promote collaboration tools to facilitate exchange of ideas.
•Work closely with Global implementation teams to oversee rollout and training of global tools (i.e, MOSS, Documentum).
•Facilitate communities of practice by identifying best practices regarding technologies, methodologies and ways of working.
•Collaboratively builds knowledge assets for the organization (after action review; decision documents, termination reports, etc.).
•Assists with information assessments and knowledge mapping to ensure successful implementation and adoption of a knowledge sharing culture.
•Contribute to the development of knowledge management storage guidance and information architecture which can be applied across various technology platforms (i.e., taxonomy process classification, template development, common language protocols and tool governance).
•Develop organizational knowledge sharing objectives tied to business objectives.
•Apply knowledge management concepts, processes and policies to facilitate the process of knowledge capture within available technology tools and platforms.




Critical success factors & key challenges
•Ability to create a change management program which will help transform the organization’s knowledge sharing culture.
•Creation of Organizational Knowledge Maps, Assessments, Analyses and Assets.
•Develops solutions to create a knowledge enabled innovation organization.
Knowledge, experience & capabilities
Critical knowledge
•B.A. or B.S. in technology, library science, management, or related discipline. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
•5+ years experience with developing and delivering change management and knowledge management programs; familiarity with content management systems and information architecture.
•Ability to conceptualize strategic issues and frame pragmatic solutions around knowledge integration and collaboration.
•Experience in plant biotechnology and development of transgenic crop products is a plus.
•Experience with business process analysis and knowledge mapping.
•Formal training in Knowledge Management or CKM® advantageous.
Critical experience
•Experience with Web 2.0 technologies and social media.
•Previous experience with SharePoint and Documentum required; Understanding of MOSS architecture advantageous.
•Experience with knowledge management tools, systems and techniques.
•Experience with designing and building taxonomies and controlled vocabularies.
•Previous work experience in the life sciences, chemical industry, or R&D environment.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
•Project management experience and ability to “make things happen.”
