2) If you haven't already done so, please RSVP for our KM Chicago Holiday Event. More details below:
It has become a tradition that we devote our December meeting to sharing food and wine in a festive holiday setting. Once again in 2011 Randy Russell will present the wine and food pairings. This will be the 10th year that Randy has led this spirited event. We hope you can join us.
The event will be held on Tuesday, 13 December, 5:30-7 PM at the Dow Jones conference room. For obvious reasons there will be no dial in or web presentation. Randy will share 6 wines and the accompanying food pairings. There will be a presentation about each of the wines and ample time for questions. A take home program is also provided to help with your shopping.
To be sure we have sufficient food and wine an RSVP is required for this event. Please send an email to randyrussell1@aol.com by close of business on Friday, 9 December. Let us know who is attending and how many. This is a great opportunity to bring a colleague or spouse and introduce them to your KM friends. Due to the capacity of the room, we will limit the number of attendees.
To cover the cost of the food and wine, the price for the event is $20/pp. The money will be collected at the event so please bring cash or a check with you. Sorry we can not accept credit cards.
We look forward to seeing you at the event.

Bonus KM Chicago meeting: November 22nd virtual session
In the KM Chicago Group meeting on November 8, we explored a number of areas with Bob Dean and Steve Bell. After exploring the area of collective knowledge toward the end of the session, Bob and Steve offered to continue the discussion of the Digital Change Agent role. The KM Chicago group can participate in some brainstorming and ranking about this important future role in organizations.
We are planning a follow-up virtual session via conference call and ThinkTank on Tuesday, November 22 at 5 p.m. CT.

Interested in joining the KM Chicago board, or hosting a meeting?
The time for KM Chicago board elections is coming up soon. If you have an interest in volunteering to help organize meetings, identify topics and speakers, please let us know. The amount of work is negligible (~30 minutes each month), and it's a great way to expand your network with other KM professionals within and outside of the Chicagoland area. If you have any questions or would like more information, please just let me know.
In addition to new members, KM Chicago is also looking for new locations where we can have our monthly meetings. Factiva has been kind enough to host us for several years, but will only be able to do so in a limited fashion moving forward. If you have access to meeting space in the loop that may be able to accommodate KM Chicago please do let us know. If we have multiple options available to us we would be able to alternate locations when needed (so you wouldn't be on the hook to host every meeting!). Once again if you would like to volunteer, have any questions or need more details please do let me know.

KM Chicago November 8th meeting, with Bob Dean
For those of you unfamiliar with the work of Pine& Gilmore's The Experience Economy, this month you are in for a treat. Bob Dean, Certified Experience Economy Expert #002, will share his customization of the Progression of Economic Value (POEV) framework for professional service firms. An active lifelong collaborator, talent development leader and Chief Learning Officer, Bob will share this point of view by using GroupSystems ThinkTank, a unique collaboration tool. At the same time, he will take us through a model for creating a high performance culture and allow us to experience ThinkTank as a way of capturing our collective knowledge exchange. Those familiar with Dave Snowden's Cynefin framework, will find the association to POEV striking. To maximize your meeting experience, please bring your laptop or tablet to the meeting, or link in remotely. [See KM Chicago blog for details: http://kmchicago.blogspot.com/]
Joining Bob in this collaborative experience will be Steve Bell, President of KeySo Global. Steve’s company has done research around the evolving knowledge ecosystem and the importance of collaborating outside your company in order to tap into “collective knowledge”, which is growing at a phenomenal rate.
Bob Dean is the Director of the North American business for Profiling Online where he is responsible for talent management strategy consulting and regional business development based out of Chicago. Bob brings over 25 years of experience in professional services firms, serving as a learning and development leader/CLO at Ernst & Young and Grant Thornton. From 2007-2009, Bob served as Vice President of Learning & Talent Development at Heidrick & Struggles and co-developed the firm’s global talent management strategy.
